Planning: Audience - LifeMatrix

The LifeMatrix tool, launched by MRI and RoperASW, defines ten audience categories, centred around both values, attitudes and beliefs. This is one of the latest approaches to market research into audiences and audience targetting.

They are:
  1. Tribe wired- Digital free spirited, creative young singles
  2. Fun/Atics- Aspirational, fun seeking active young people
  3. Dynamic Duos- Hard driving high involvement couples
  4. Priority Parents- Family values, activities, media strongly dominate
  5. Home Soldiers- Home centre, family oriented, materially ambitious
  6. Renaissance Women- Active, Caring, affluent, influential mums
  7. Rugged Traditionalists- Traditional male values, love for outdoors
  8. Struggling Singles- High aspirations, low economic status
  9. Settled Elders- Devout, older, sedentary
  10. Free Birds- Vital, active, altruistic seniors
Our audience would be  'Struggling Singles' as our target audience would be young males who may of had a bad experience due to low economic status; therefore they turned to crime and deviance to survive. But, they also have high aspirations and are looking to move forward in life.

Planning: Mood Board

We had found that brainstorming ideas for the shrtlisted songs was proving to be difficult as they all had great music videos.
Therefore, we had chosen to do Wretch 32 ft Etta Bond - Forgiveness, with Torian and Damilola as our artists.

Planning: Shortlist of songs

As a group, we had decided that Damilola would be our artist and performer for the music video which we create.
We chose to create a music video for a pop/R&B song, and tried to match the vocals with the face of our artist in order to ensure the music video look as realistic as possible.
The videos below are the songs which we had short listed to use to create our music video.

Amy Winehouse - Valerie

Corrine Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On

 Misha B - Home Run

Tulisa - Live It Up

Research - Synergy

Album Cover - Jessie J - Alive

Album Teaser Trailer / Album Sampler - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2zjRUxPvic

Music Video - Jessie J - It's My Party

For Jessie J, they don't have an album trailer but they have an album sampler where they play bits of all the songs on the track list.
only thing you know you are sure to see for certain in here music videos from her album, is the way she looks. 'It's my Party' is the only track that has a music video that is in colour where as the video 'Wild' is in black and white like her album cover. There is more yet to come, hopefully.

Research: Reflection on progress

I feel that I am progressing quite well as I am keeping up to date with my media work. The amount of hours I am committing to all my subjects have almost triple to what I was doing. I am spending more time on researching the right thing and making sure all my blogs` quality are my full potential. I would give myself 15 out of 20 as I feel that I should use more ways and websites to do my work like Prezis.com and slideshare etc. But I feel that with my lack of awareness of other websites I am unable to receive the full mark that I was aimed at the start. But I really feel that my blogs are well detailed and researched to the potential.

The three things I could do to improve are:
  • Increase the level of technologies and ways to blog my work.
  • Blog more information that relates ton my work.
  • Put my heart in it.

Research - Skills Audit

I feel that the skills that i have learnt in the AS year have developed. There are some things such as using Photoshop, that I've already had the experience of using before. From my time in secondary school and in my photography lessons.

Since I started AS level Media Studies, that was when I was first introduced into blogging let alone having a blog. I have never used Blogger before, so having this experience has giving me the confidence to use it in general, not only for media studies.

I think my use of media has developed since the AS year. ive become more confident in the terms I use when analysing. for example knowing the correct terminology like Match cuts, Jump cuts, Base Tracks, and the different types of camera angles.

I have even become more confident in analysing generally. Learning how to write down everything i see within a clip and explaining how and why they used certain technologies, stereotypes and representions.

Research: Reflection on Progress

Since starting A2 media, I have found that I am progressing quicker and better than I did when I started with the AS Thriller coursework. This is due to already having grasped a concept of media language and analytic skills. My research skills have also improved vastly.
I have done all of the research blogs and I am up to date. However, in comparison to last year, I find that my rate of posting blogs is at a slightly slower rate than last year. I am working now to improve on my blogging time management, in order to ensure I do not fall behind on work as we are moving a a fast pace.
So far, I have used a much wide range of technology - Photoshop, Prezi, Screenshots, Slideshare; but, I am going to try use other softwares to present my work.

Three things I need to do to improve:

  • Better Time management - Blogging on time!
  • Use more softwares in blogs
  • Do extra blogs as well as the ones we are meant to do
