As part of research into the artist we are looking to
recreate, I looked at how Wretch 32 originally promoted his recent album – ‘Doing
Ok.’ Social media is now the most common way to communicate and reach out to a
wide audience; most commonly through Facebook, Twitter and their website.
The most common theme running throughout his social media sites were about his new album, and this was highlighted on every page.

His Facebook page provides new and old audiences to listen to his music and share songs they like. This creates a snowball effect and allows a wider audience to be reached quicker.
All these sites offer content such as the photos, behind
the scene videos and stream for the artist’s latest and old singles. Each page
uses different techniques to connect to their different fans. For example,
Twitter is mainly used to connect to a younger audience aged 14 – 18; whereas
his website would be used to connect to those slightly older audiences who
would like to hire him or attend a gig.
All sites are also consistent with the branding, as this allows the artist to be easily identifiable.

For my advanced portfolio I think it's vitally important
to use social media to promote our single and artist. Also considering that our
target audience is a demographic of teenage/young adults, I think it's vitally
important that we use social networking to promote our artist as statistics
suggest teenagers use social media more than any other age group.
