Research: Analysis of Music Video Conventions - Genre

Genre is important when making a music video because each genre have a different choice of Mise En Scene. The editing styles and camera shots will be completely different from Indie Rock and Hip Hop.
In an Indie Rock video, viewers usually expects the start up shots being a wide shot of the group then close up shot of the drummer followed by a medium shot of the lead singer. Whilst in a Hip-Hop video the first shot is usually the main prop(usually a car or a girl or a high shot of a location.)

Rick Ross: Hustlin. Genre: Hip-Hop

Franz Ferdinand: Take me out. Genre: Indie Rock
