Research: Revenues

Below is an example how well known artists makes their revenue which is quite surprising where they make the most money from.

Artists get their revenues from royalties, money from gigs, t-shirt sales, synch licensing fees or support from fans.

Thanks to the new technologies available within our availability, it is now easily to get new songs which means record label can low the costs of their music. Digital recording studios, aggregators, online music stores, on-demand streaming services, webcasting stations and satellite radio; each has done its part to reduce the cost barriers to the creation, production, distribution and sale of music. And everything from social networks to blogs to Twitter feeds now help musicians connect with fans.

Below is a pie chart of how the revenue gained are split within the industry.

I have used http://blog.midem.com/2012/01/kristin-thomson-the-new-power-trio-bands-brands-and-revenue/ to obtain some information which I have then reworded back into my own words.
